Step up your Amsterdam trip! On our walking tour we use history and humor to deepen your cultural understanding of Amsterdam and the Dutch, all while keeping you entertained the whole time. Meeting and Pickup
We will meet in the office of Those Dam Boat Guys, just let the people there know you are there for the walking tour and they'll make sure you are comfortable, guide you to the toilets if needed and inform the guide that you have arrived!
End Point
We end on Dam square, 2 mins walking from where we started and where you can take all forms of transport.

Itinerary
1. We start our tour in the heart of Amsterdam's world famous canal belt. Here we learn how the Dutch had to coexist with the water and how it has shaped the culture and mentality of the Netherlands throughout the ages.
2. The most famous neighborhood in this city and perhaps the world, discover the history, why its there, how it works and how the Dutch look at it.
3. Amsterdams central and most important square, where we will explore the Dutch fight against the water and how it shaped our culture and way of thinking.
4. Learn how and why the Dutch went from Catholic to Protestant on the beautiful and serene inner courtyard next to the church
5. Here at the start of the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam, we will dive into the tragic fate of 10 of thousands of Jewish people who lived in Amsterdam before, and during the war as well as the disastrous hungerwinter.
6. The former Dutch East India company HQ, we will uncover how this tiny country grew into a vast empire and cornered the world trade in spices, all while in battle for their very existence and independence.
7. On the banks of the Amstel river you'll find Amsterdam's modern city hall, find out why the locals call it 'Stopera' and why despite being one of the ugliest buildings in the city its still a place of pride for Amsterdammers.
8. discover a secret garden in the middle of the city and learn about the beguine sisters that build it.
9. Learn how the Dutch royal family came to be, what the French have to do with it, and why our national colour is orange but our flag red, white and blue.
