Itinerary

1. Walks In Europe - Athens

Meet your small group at the Acropolis metro station 10 minutes before the tour start time. Get acquainted with your licensed Greek guide, who will outline the day’s itinerary before you begin your walk through the Acropolis.

2. Acropolis

Escape the crowds and explore the Acropolis on a carefully paced small-group walking tour led by an expert local guide. As you walk through this legendary site, you’ll be immersed in the history, mythology, and ideas that shaped ancient Greece and continue to influence the world today. With pre-reserved tickets, you’ll skip the long queues and begin your visit smoothly. Rising above Athens, the Acropolis is the city’s most iconic monument—a symbol of artistic brilliance, civic pride, and architectural achievement. Your guided walk includes the Erechtheion, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Propylaea, and the legendary Parthenon, each revealing a different layer of ancient Athenian life and belief.

Duration: 90 mins

3. Parthenon

Step into the heart of ancient Athens with a guided visit to the Parthenon, the crowning monument of the Acropolis. Dedicated to Athena, the city’s patron goddess, this extraordinary temple embodies the ideals, ambition, and artistic brilliance of Athens at its golden age. As you explore the site, your expert guide reveals how the Parthenon was designed, built, and used, and why it came to symbolize democracy, power, and cultural achievement. Through stories, architectural details, and historical context, the monument comes alive as far more than a ruin—it becomes a window into the world that shaped Western civilization.

Duration: 30 mins

4. Propylaea

Pass through the Propylaea, the monumental gateway that once marked the ceremonial entrance to the Acropolis. Designed to impress and prepare visitors for the sacred spaces beyond, this grand structure set the tone for religious festivals and processions in ancient Athens. As you explore its marble columns and architectural details, your expert guide explains the Propylaea’s role in Athenian ritual life and how its design reflected the city’s power, order, and artistic ambition.

5. Erectheion

Get an excellent understanding of this magnificent part of the Acropolis from your expert local guide. Visualize the Acropolis of the fifth century BC, still one of the most accurate reflections of the splendor, power, and wealth of that era. Enjoy Athens as it was at its highest peak, during the golden age of Perikles.

6. Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus

Here you can enjoy the views over the city and all the way to the Aegean Sea. Follow your guide on a different route towards the south exit so that you also see the Altar of Asclepius and the Theater of Dionysus, the birthplace of theater and drama.

7. Temple of Athena Nike

Discover the temples on the north side of the Acropolis that most visitors miss out on. Take a break after you walk through the temples that primarily housed the earlier Athenian cults and those of the Olympian gods.

8. Acropolis Museum

Continue to the Acropolis Museum for the second part of your experience. Designed to complement the visit to the Acropolis itself, the museum offers a deeper understanding of the monuments you’ve just explored. Walk across its striking glass floors and look down onto the archaeological excavations beneath the building as your guide introduces highlights of ancient Greek art and daily life. Inside, see original sculptures and architectural elements from the Acropolis temples and learn how they once fitted into their historical and cultural context. In the Parthenon Gallery, your guide will explain the story of the famous Elgin Marbles and their significance. The guided visit concludes in the Archaic Gallery, home to remarkable statues that predate the Acropolis monuments. Afterward, you’re welcome to remain in the museum at your own pace or step outside to enjoy views over the modern city.
