Meeting and Pickup
We meet outside of the General Havelock Hotel, on the corner of Hutt Street and Carrington Street in Adelaide's CBD.

Itinerary
1. Wander along the vibrant Hutt Street with its many cafes, bars, restaurants and pubs. Learn about the early history of the area.
2. Admire the Victoriana Villas and worker's cottages along Halifax Street, in a quiet secluded area of the city. Hear about the stories of the social fabric of the area and its development.
3. Discuss the social history surrounding leafy Gilles Street and view some of the middle class and working class stone houses along with an early example of a corner shop.
4. View the stunning mansions and their architecture along the fringe of South Terrace overlooking the sweeping Adelaide Parklands. Hear the stories of who were the former residents and how they made their fortunes.
5. Relive the stories behind the former residents who have lived in the grand mansions along East Terrace, including Pastoralists, Clergymen, Business Owners, Politicians and Doctors. Ambling along East Terrace, you can also admire the magnificent East Parklands with its defined walking and cycling trails as well as wetlands.
6. View a fine example of Norman architecture in St John's Anglican Church and learn about its history and development, including why the church was re-built. Find out why the church had a nickname of "St John's in the Wilderness".
7. Admire the examples of early Terrace Housing in Carrington Street as well as the imposing Springhill Lodge built in the 1890's.
