Hello or Terve! - Why are Finns so crazy about sauna? - Is Finland really the happiest country in the world? Join my Finntastic walking tour to learn about the Finnish culture, food, history, and way of life in a fun and also informative way! Please go through the tour details (itinerary, duration, Notes, etc.) before booking. Notes: * Not suitable for kids on stroller, wheelchair, and those with difficulties in walking (Ability to take steps and walk for 4km is required), * Not suitable for those with hearing difficulties, * Pets are not allowed, * Please register a valid phone number with WhatsApp, * Group size: 5-30 people, and the guide has a voice amplifier, * We run the tour shine or rain, please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly (we cancel and refund in super bad/cold weather), * We don´t accept refund requests due to no-show (any reasons such as rain, snow, wind, flight/cruise/ferry cancellation or delay, going to a wrong meeting point)
Meeting and Pickup
Look for a blue and white umbrella at Senate Square (or Senaatintori in Finnish). The guide also holds a blue sign that reads "Finntastic Walking Tour". Please manage to arrive 10-15 min early. The guide can’t answer your calls or messages once the tour begins.
End Point
The tour ends at Oodi central library, next to the central train station, within 15 minutes walking distance from Senate square.
Redemption Instructions
- There may be other tours at Senate Square, please take care not to join the wrong one. - We start the tour on time, so please manage to arrive 10-15 min earlier to the meeting point. The guide cannot answer calls or messages once the tour begins. - Refunds are not accepted due to no show, delays, ferry cancellation, cruise ship cancellation, sickness. - In case you have problems finding the tour guide, please contact +358444937522 (before the tour). - We won´t have any toilet/coffee breaks during the tour, so please plan ahead. - Helsinki has cold weather from October to May, so please wear enough layers. Some coffee in thermos bottle can help you keep warm. - In the summer, Helsinki has sharp sunny days, so sunglasses and suncream are essential. Some water in the summer helps you keep hydrated. - Wear appropriate shoes as we will walk around 4 kilometers. We are committed to sustainable tourism, therefore, we have some tips for you: - Tap water in Finland is drinkable and comes with a high quality. We recommend you to bring a reusable bottle and refill it with tap water. - We recommend you to recycle all your bottles and cans. You can recylce them in grocerry stores and get some money back. - We reccommend you to use public transportation to the meeting point. - We recommend you to buy local products, local foods and drinks to help the local economy. You can tip the guide at the end of the tour if you enjoyed the tour. Tips can be paid in cash or by card via our payment machine.

Itinerary
1. Senate square (Senaatintori in Finnish) is our meeting point, and it is probably the main tourist attraction, where the history of modern Helsinki begins. Here we will discover the three beautiful buildings around us!
2. Helsinki Cathedral or the White cathedral is the most famous landmark in the city that you have probably seen pictures of. If the church is open, we can go inside and learn about the religious mindset in Finland. If we are lucky, we can also enjoy some music inside the church! (we don’t go inside the church in the summers because of its 10€ entry fee. It´s closed on Sundays, most Saturdays, and in public holidays)
3. "Torille" is a famous Finnish phrase, which means "to the market" ! Let´s visit the market square to find out what that means! What Finns usually eat or drink, and what can you buy from Helsinki to take home with you?
4. We will give you a complete guide to a Finnish sauna and give you some recommendations on the best saunas in the town. Let’s learn why Finns are so crazy about sauna?! Allas sauna is located right next to the Gulf of Finland, so here we’ll also get a nice sea view and talk about Suomenlinna fortree island and how you can visit it after the tour. That is highly recommended place to visit as it is a UNESCO heritage site.
5. Why do we need two Cathedrals in Helsinki? This one looks different than Helsinki Cathedral, let us find out the reason! We will visit this beautiful cathedral from distance, when we visit the market square.
6. Probably the most famous and the most iconic statue in Helsinki!
7. Locally known as Helsinki’s champs de elysee, is home to Kappeli restaurant and Espa music stage. In the middle, stands Runeberg's statue, the national poet of Finland. Here, we will also learn some fun facts about Finland.
8. The first cafe bar in Helsinki, and probably the reason why Finns are so much in love with coffee and coffee break!
9. Aleksi is of the main streets in the city center with many beautiful art deco buildings, each of which has a lot of amazing stories to tell about the Finnish culture!
10. Central train station of Helsinki is a beautiful landmark in the city center guarded by four massive statues who have many stories to tell us! We will also pass by two other beautiful buildings: Finland’s national theater and Ateneum museum (Finland’s national gallary).
11. This is the modern district of the town, surrounded by beautiful post modern buildings, so you will realize why Helsinki was chosen in 2012 as the world’s capital city of design!
12. Oodi library is the highlight of the tour, where you will need to change the definition of a library you have on mind, because this is different than any libraries you have ever seen, and it is gonna blow your mind!
