Itinerary
1. We won't give away all the highlights and hidden gems on this city walk. This is not a scavenger hunt, quiz, or game — just a thoughtfully curated walking route that combines Amsterdam’s iconic highlights with unique hidden gems. The best bedget friendly way to get to know Amsterdam.
2. What makes it truly unique is its location: right in the middle of the red-light district, creating a striking contrast between the sacred and the worldly.
3. Dam Square has been the heart of Amsterdam since the 13th century. Originally, a dam was built here on the Amstel River, which is where the city gets its name.
4. The Brienenhofje is one of Amsterdam’s best-kept secrets. Hidden behind a modest façade on the Prinsengracht, it’s a peaceful oasis right in the heart of the busy city.
5. Housed in a charming canal house, this museum takes you on a journey from the Himalayas to the blooming Dutch tulip fields.
6. The Anne Frank House is one of the most moving and powerful places in Amsterdam. In this hidden annex behind a canal-side warehouse on the Prinsengracht, the Frank family went into hiding during World War II to escape the Nazis.
7. The Nine Streets form a charming shopping area in the heart of the canal district, nestled between the Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht, Herengracht, and Singel canals.
8. This remarkable museum is housed in what appears to be a typical 17th-century canal house, but inside you’ll discover a hidden Catholic church on the upper floors.
