2. Castle of Breda is on the tour route. The Castle of Breda is a castle located in the Dutch province of North Brabant, situated in the central part of the city of Breda on Castle Square in the Valkenberg district. Since 1826, the Royal Military Academy has been based in the castle.
3. Begijnhof (Beguinage) is on the tour route. The Breda Beguinage is a group of houses and a small church surrounded by walls in the center of Breda. There are 29 houses in two courtyards, arranged around a herb garden.
4. Valkenberg Park is on the tour route. Valkenberg Park is the green oasis in the heart of Breda. It's a park with a royal touch, where only the castle residents and their guests were welcome until the early nineteenth century. Nowadays, it's a delightful meeting place.
5. Great Market Square is on the tour route. The Grand Market, the highest point in the city, has been used as a marketplace for centuries. Initially, it was primarily used for trading grains. The general goods markets, like the ones held on Tuesday mornings and Fridays, have been around since 1321.
6. The Antonius cathedral is on the tour route. In St. Janstraat, at the front on the right side, you'll see St. Anthony's Cathedral, which is a fancy church built in a certain style. In 1836, it became the first Catholic church to be officially built after a time when Catholic worship was hidden. It was also the first church where a bishop could lead the diocese of Breda.
