This peaceful waterside setting offers a quiet contrast to the busy city and shows a softer side of old Beijing. Step inside a traditional courtyard house and hear how Beijing families lived for centuries. Learn how several generations shared one home, how daily life was organized around the courtyard, and how the layout reflects traditional Chinese values of family, harmony, and hierarchy.
