Experience the wonders of Banff like never before on our History Explorer Walking Tour. Delve into the rich history and vibrant culture of Banff National Park with a small group of 2 to 8 people. Enjoy a hassle-free exploration of the area with entry fees to several renowned museums included. Meet your knowledgeable and engaging guide at the Cave and Basin parking lot. Prepare for a day filled with fascinating insights, captivating stories, and stunning scenery. This small group tour allows for a more personalized experience as you explore some of the most significant historical sites and local landmarks in Banff. Enjoy the opportunity to take a leisurely walk as you visit these landmarks, with a total walking distance of approximately 6 miles (total walking time including museums and landmarks). If any of the museums are closed for unscheduled maintenance or black out dates the tour will be modified to explore other local landmarks and historical sites in Banff.
Meeting and Pickup
Meet your guide outside the Gift Shop in the parking lot. They will have a clipboard and smile. Please arrive 10mins before departure for waivers and setup. There is free parking at this location. There is public transit. It is a short 5-7min taxi from Downtown.

Itinerary
1. Begin your journey at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, the birthplace of Canada’s national parks. Explore the historic cave, learn about the area’s geothermal activity, and uncover the fascinating history behind the development of Banff as a national park.
2. Immerse yourself in the eclectic displays of the Banff Park Museum, where you can discover the diverse wildlife and natural history of the region. This museum is housed in one of Canada's oldest purpose-built museums, offering insightful exhibits and local artifacts.
3. Exploration at the Whyte Museum Cabins. Here the guide will share stories that celebrate the culture and heritage of Banff and the Canadian Rockies.
4. Visit the Banff Buffalo Nations Museum. This museum is dedicated to the rich history of the Indigenous peoples of the region, with a focus on the relationships between the First Nations and the bison that once roamed these lands. Learn about traditional uses of the bison, cultural practices, and the significant impact of Indigenous heritage on the area's history.
