The first stage of this enlightening guided promenade will be REPUBBLICA SQUARE, one of the most elegant squares in Florence. Follow your guide through the most characteristic streets and alleys until you reach the LOGGIA DEL MERCATO NUOVO, and discover how to win good luck caressing the nose of the famous PORCELLINO (wild boar) STATUE. At a stone throw there is the suggestive PONTE VECCHIO, famous for hosting the most exclusive jewelry stores of Florence. Follow your guide to SIGNORIA SQUARE, a real open-air museum dominated by the imposing PALAZZO VECCHIO and the magnificent LOGGIA DEI LANZI, which houses wonderful original statues. Follow your guide to one of the most historic and beautiful squares of Florence - Piazza San Giovanni! The walk will take about ten minutes, and you will immediately be greeted by the breathtaking view of Brunelleschi's grandiose Duomo, the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, the San Giovanni Baptistry, and Giotto's Bell Tower. Although its name translates to, “New Market,” this market has been standing for centuries, originally opening in the 1500’s as a place for foreign silk and precious stone vendors.
