1. Chacchoben
Your adventure begins with transportation from Costa Maya, departing approximately 1 hour after your cruise ship arrives in port. Enjoy the approximately 50-minute drive to Chacchoben village, where you’ll meet a local Maya family and discover a more personal side of Costa Maya’s culture. Spend approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes with your hosts, learning about their traditions and daily life. Watch a traditional tortilla-making demonstration and try making your own, while discovering the fresh ingredients, local spices, and family recipes used in Maya cooking. Then sit down for an authentic home-cooked lunch prepared especially for your visit, including traditional tamales and other dishes made with fresh local ingredients. Add a little habanero sauce if you’re feeling adventurous! After lunch, continue approximately 25 minutes to Bacalar Lagoon for the second part of your adventure.

After your Mayan Experience, continue to the spectacular Bacalar Seven Color Lagoon, famous for its crystal-clear waters and beautiful shades of turquoise.
