1. Piazza del Ferrarese
Piazza Ferrarese has always been one of the access points to the historic center that, with its alleys, alleys and small openings, extends from Piazza Ferrarese - Piazza Mercantile to the Norman - Swabian Castle. During a recent restoration, which affected not only the square but also the surrounding buildings, a short stretch of the ancient Appian Way - Trajan, built by the Romans at the beginning of the second century AD.C.
2. Piazza Mercantile
The square has always been the heart of the commercial and administrative activities of the city due to the presence of the City Point of Sale (currently not present in this area) and the Palazzo Sedile, historical landmark of the Municipality of Bari. Today, for the citizens of Bari it is an irreplaceable meeting point.
3. Basilica San Nicola
During this stage of the tour we will visit the famous Basilica of San Nicola and taste the typical Bari focaccia in one of the oldest bakeries in the city. Focaccia from Bari is a typical Apulian dish, to be enjoyed hot and savored in every piece. The classic version is with cherry tomatoes and olives!
4. Cattedrale di San Sabino
Walking through the alleys of the city center, we pass the majestic Bari Cathedral. The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Bari-Bitonto, dedicated to San Sabino, bishop of Canosa, whose relics were brought here in the ninth century. Here you will appreciate the underground Roman walls called Succorpus.
5. Strada delle Orecchiette
If you want to get to know the real Bari you cannot miss a visit to Via dell'Arco Basso, better known as Via delle Orecchiette.
6. Castello Normanno Svevo
Our tour ends with an excellent and fresh ice cream to be enjoyed in the warm streets of the city.
