The medieval Benedictine monastery of Santa Scolastica, with its attached sixteenth-century bastion, now serves as the renewed headquarters of the Archaeological Museum of the Metropolitan City of Bari, welcoming visitors at the northern end of the widespread museum known for its density and variety of architectural, archaeological, artistic, and historical values, which is the Old Town.
