Itinerary
1. The following are highlights from the Beltline District Walking Tour. In total, you’ll enjoy over 23 audio points of interest in this immersive, self-guided audio tour—featuring the iconic Scotiabank Saddledome, historic Central Memorial Park & Library, vibrant Calgary Stampede Grounds, and much more!
2. Calgary's Memorial Park Library is a historic Beaux-Arts building that has served as a cultural and literary hub since 1912.
3. Calgary Memorial Cenotaph. You'll learn a bit about this memorial as well as what the benches on either side signify.
4. Boer War Memorial. We'll point out this incredible statue honouring those who fought in the war.
5. We'll point out this super cool modern art creation that changes colours to match those around it.
6. You'll stroll through this urban park while we tell about it's importance to the city.
7. We'll point out this church turned opera home and tell you about the transformation.
8. As you walk around this fantastic old mansion, we'll tell you about the Senator Lougheed and his accomplishments.
9. Lougheed Architecture. On the other side of the home, we'll tell you a bit about how it was a modern feat for the time.
10. You won't miss this one, but we'll point it out and tell you about it anyways. It's very unique... we'll leave it at that.
11. Hester Apartments. You'll see and learn a bit about this heritage apartment complex.
12. You'll see the very first school ever built in Calgary with some modern amenities!
13. Underwood Block Annex. We'll point out another historical building and tell you about it's importance
14. Findlay Apartments. You'll see and learn about one of the oldest apartment complexes in all of Calgary, as well as how it went from being an all male, to an all female building.
15. George Cushing Residence. We'll point out this home built in 1906 and tell you about the man George Cushing himself.
16. We'll tell you all about the house that moved here.
17. As you stroll through the urban heritage park, we'll tell you about the Calgary's French connection.
18. Learn about one of the first two fire halls built in Calgary!
19. Lorraine Block. We'll point out this historical apartment block and tell you what rent went for 100 years ago!
20. As you enter the grounds, we'll give you an overview on the grounds and of course the Calgary Stampede itself! Note that admission to the grounds is required during the Stampede week.
21. You'll see it, because it's huge, but we'll point it out anyways and tell you about the home to the NHL's Calgary Flames.
22. You'll see and learn about the historic building, and why it's being replaced by a new one.
23. The last stop on the tour, where all the action happens! You'll see the where the rodeo itself takes place and learn about it's roots.
