Due to this city walk you will get to know Delft much better and discover all the hidden facts. You will walk along the Nieuwe Kerk, the impressive city hall, the Beestenmarkt and Hotel Grand Canal. You also pass the impressive store called House of Vermeer, where all kinds of beautiful Delft blue pottery are sold. Will you go home with a unique Delft souvenir? Or would you rather learn more about why the Oude Kerk is leaning? Broaden your knowledge and be amazed by this beautiful city during this audio guided tour. In the following points, you'll see just a few examples of the many attractions we will pass by.
2. The New Church, or "Nieuwe Kerk," in Delft is a historic Gothic church founded in the late 14th century. Its soaring brick spire, standing over 100 meters tall, is an iconic symbol of Delft. Inside, you'll discover a wealth of history, including monuments, tombstones, and the final resting place of Dutch royalty. The church remains an active place of worship and hosts cultural events, making it a prominent landmark in the heart of Delft.
3. The Beestenmarkt is a 60 by 50 meter square in the city of Delft, in the Dutch province of South Holland. The square was created by demolishing the Minderbroederklooster (Lesser Brothers Monastery). From 1595 to 1972, the square was the location for the Delft cattle markets, where farmers from the Westland region displayed their livestock.
4. The Delft City Hall, situated in the South Holland province of the Netherlands, stands on the Markt square, across from the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). The initial construction of the city hall began in 1200. It underwent renovations or reconstruction around 1400. Although it survived the significant city fire of 1536, it unfortunately burned down on March 4, 1618.
5. The beautiful Oostpoort is the only remaining city gate in Delft and undoubtedly one of the most picturesque scenes for your photo book about Delft. If you're in the center of Delft, it's definitely worth taking a stroll to see it.
