Itinerary
1. The Bakenessergracht is a picturesque canal that features a number of beautiful monuments on its banks.
2. The Bakenesserkerk is a church with a striking white tower.
3. The Amsterdamse Poort is a beautiful city gate from 1486, through which the road to Amsterdam used to pass.
4. Villa Welgelegen is a historical building in Haarlem which currently houses the offices of the provincial executives of North Holland. Located at the north end of a public park in the city, it is an example of neoclassical architecture, designed by Abraham van der Hart and unusual for its style in the Netherlands.
5. The North Holland Archives in Haarlem is the Regional Historic Center of North Holland, Kennemerland and Haarlem. Here you can find the historical records of the entire province.
6. The street is named after the many ship wharfs and ship builders that were located along this dyke. Unfortunately, these days there are none left.
7. The Amsterdamse Poort is an old city gate of Haarlem, Netherlands. It is located at the end of the old route from Amsterdam to Haarlem and is the only remaining gate out of the original twelve city gates.
8. The Waag (Waegh) is a former weighing house in Haarlem that today serves as a café catering to tourists.
