1. Porte Guillaume
Begin at the impressive Porte Guillaume, an 18th-century triumphal arch located on Place Darcy and built on the site of a former 12th-century gate. Erected in tribute to the Prince de Condé, Governor of Burgundy, it serves as a symbolic entrance to the historic center.
2. Orange
Continue along Rue de la Liberte, the city’s main pedestrian street leading into the Old Town. Lined with elegant architecture and historic facades, it opens onto Place Francois-Rude and notable 15th-century buildings such as the Maison aux Trois Visages and the Hôtel Milliere.
3. Place de la Liberation
Proceed to Place de la Liberation, the historic heart of Dijon. Formerly known as Place Royale in honor of Louis XIV, the square is now a lively gathering place centered around his equestrian statue.
4. Tour Philippe le Bon
Nearby stands the Tour Philippe le Bon, a 45-meter tower built between 1450 and 1460. Once a watchtower and later a symbol of ducal authority, it offers panoramic views of the city after climbing its 316 steps.
5. Church of Our Lady
Pass by the remarkable Church of Our Lady of Dijon, a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture and part of Dijon’s UNESCO-listed heritage.
