Itinerary
1. We begin our tour in one of the oldest locations of the city where you will learn about the origins of Amsterdam.
2. Here on the oldest canal of the city we will talk about the layout and purpose of the canals and the religious buildings that were in the area.
3. In this canal we will explain to you the history of the Redlight District and the culture around drugs in Amsterdam.
4. Next to this unique building that had a hidden printing press during the Second World War we are going to talk about the Nazi occupation and the hideouts people used.
5. Next to the narrowest canal of Amsterdam where the Amstel river ends, we explain to you the history of water management in the Netherlands and why is it so important.
6. In the bridge of this square, next to the flower market, we talk about the old walls of the town, the presence of bells all over the city centre and the introduction of the tulip to the country.
7. On top of the Amstel river you will appreciate several examples of the house boats of this town and the "dancing houses" of Amsterdam.
8. One of the most iconic views in the entire city. This location is a great spot to explain details of the changes that were brought by the Protestant Reform in the churches of the city.
9. The ending point of our tour. The Jewish Quarter is an important part of Amsterdam's history and how tolerance developed in the city.
