Overview

El Picacho stands out for the beautiful view it offers over the city. From its summit, at about 2,100 meters above sea level, you'll watch the sunset, admire the city's imposing lights at night, and observe the daily life of the residents of a traditional working-class neighborhood. You'll connect with nature and visit a popular residential area, far removed from the bustling commercial and tourist activity of the city. You'll take the train and cable car to the El Picacho lookout, where you'll climb more than 300 steps to reach the top. There, we'll share stories about different parts of the city, pointing them out and showing them to you. You'll even have binoculars to zoom in on some interesting historical and contemporary landmarks. Finally, you'll return with the guide to the Acevedo metro station, where you'll receive clear instructions on how to complete your journey to the station closest to your final destination.

Itinerary

1. We will take the metro and the cable car to ascend the western slope of the valley. We will go from an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters above sea level at the meeting point to about 2,000 meters near the La Aurora Metrocable station. From there, we will take a vehicle that continues along the mountainside to the El Picacho Viewpoint. Metro and cable car tickets are included in the tour price.
Duration: 45 mins
2. Cerro El Picacho
Once at El Picacho, we will walk up about 300 steps to the summit, home to the Christ viewpoint. There, we will enjoy the most comprehensive panoramic view of the city. Using binoculars, we will point out and discuss key locations that define Medellín’s past and present. We will watch the transition from late afternoon to nightfall from the heights. We can take photos and videos using your own camera or phone, or even capture drone footage—provided you book the option that includes this service.
Duration: 120 mins
3. Later in the evening, we will once again board a vehicle to travel through the streets of the El Picacho neighborhood, a working-class area of the city. From the vehicle, you will be able to see and experience the authentic, real, day-to-day life of this community (which is not a tourist area).
Duration: 15 mins
4. Estación Acevedo Metro y MetroCable
Finally, we will take another cable car to the Acevedo metro station. We will conclude the tour there and explain which station to head to and what other mode of transport to take to continue your activities or return to your accommodation. Cable car and metro tickets are included in the tour price.
Duration: 15 mins
