2. The Gevangenpoort is the only preserved medieval city gate of Bergen op Zoom. It is even one of the oldest surviving city gates
3. In the heart of historic Bergen op Zoom is De Maagd theatre, where you can enjoy a show, musical, cabaret, theatre concert, classical, theatre, dance/ballet
4. The Grote or St. Gertrudiskerk towers high above the Grote Markt of Bergen op Zoom. The church was built from 1504 to a design by Anthonis
5. Halfway between world cities, where Brabant coasts Zeeland, lies Bergen op Zoom as an ancient pearl. Bergen op Zoom is a taste of culture, fun shopping and culinary enjoyment in a historic ambience. The extensive and varied range of shops in the compact center with its medieval streets and squares offers many hours of shopping pleasure. The narrow streets, old squares and quirky monuments here tell the story of a rich and eventful past, which dates back more than eight hundred years.
6. The market square is considered the oldest part of the city. In the 12th century, this was already an unpaved core with buildings and some foothills of streets.
