1. Kinpusenji Temple
Tour around Kinpusenji and, if you're lucky, its famous "Blue Buddhas" with your guide and learn about the history of Shugendo, a unique blend of different religious practices. They are only available at certain times of the year but the building itself is still hundreds of years old and made of various unusual types of wood.

2. Yoshimizu Shrine
Head to Yoshimizu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shrine that has housed many famous people in history including an emperor, a famous warrior and Toyotomi Hideyoshi (one of the unifiers of Japan). Enjoy the oldest shoin or study in Japan!

3. Noten Daijin Ryuoin Temple
After lunch you have a few options to chose form for what you want to do. The main option is the Noten Daijin Ryuoin Temple which is located near the former imperial tomb. If you are looking for a more difficult hike you can head over to Mikumari shrine and get the amazing aerial shots of the temple you can see in the photos section
