Itinerary

1. Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings, located on the West Bank of the Nile, is one of Egypt’s most iconic archaeological sites. It served as the royal burial ground for pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom (16th to 11th century BC). The valley is home to over 60 tombs, including the tomb of Tutankhamun, which was discovered nearly intact in 1922. The tombs are renowned for their elaborate wall paintings and hieroglyphs that depict scenes from the Egyptian Book of the Dead and the journey to the afterlife. Visitors can explore several tombs and marvel at the artistry and spiritual beliefs of ancient Egypt.
Duration: 120 mins
2. Temple of Hatshepsut
The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, also known as Deir el-Bahari, is a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian architecture. Nestled at the base of towering cliffs, the temple features three terraces connected by long ramps, with colonnades, statues, and reliefs that celebrate Hatshepsut’s reign. Hatshepsut was one of the few female pharaohs and her temple reflects her ambition and achievements. The temple’s reliefs depict her divine birth, her trading expeditions to the Land of Punt, and various aspects of her reign. The temple is a testament to her legacy and the architectural ingenuity of ancient Egypt.
Duration: 120 mins
3. The Karnak Temple
Karnak Temple is one of the largest and most impressive temple complexes in Egypt, located on the East Bank of the Nile. It was built and expanded over a period of 2,000 years, primarily dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. The temple complex covers over 200 acres and includes the Hypostyle Hall, an immense room with 134 towering columns, the Obelisk of Hatshepsut, and the Sacred Lake. The grandeur and scale of Karnak Temple showcase the architectural and artistic achievements of ancient Egyptian civilization. It served as a major religious center and a place of pilgrimage for centuries.
Duration: 120 mins
4. Luxor Temple
Situated in the heart of Luxor city, Luxor Temple is a striking example of ancient Egyptian temple architecture. Unlike many other temples in Egypt, Luxor Temple is not dedicated to a god or a pharaoh in death, but rather to the rejuvenation of kingship. The temple was a center of the annual Opet Festival, where the statues of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu were paraded from Karnak to Luxor Temple. Notable features of the temple include the Avenue of Sphinxes, the colossal statues of Ramses II, and the beautifully preserved carvings and hieroglyphs. Luxor Temple stands as a testament to the cultural and spiritual richness of ancient Thebes.
