1. Midhope Castle
Midhope Castle is Lallybroch , the ancestral home of Jamie Fraser. Jamie sets up home here with Claire in the first season of Outlander . Midhope Castle, a 16th-century tower house, is used as Lallybroch (also known as Broch Tuarach) in Outlander . Left to Jamie by his parents, Brian and Ellen, Lallybroch is also home to Jamie’s sister, Jenny, her husband Ian Murray and their children. Since Lallybroch is an important part of the Outlander story, much use is made of Midhope Castle in season 7 . Also features in Outlander Blood of my Blood

2. Linlithgow Palace
Linlithgow Palace - Wentworth Prison , castle tours from Private Tours Edinburgh. Linlithgow Palace ( Wentworth prison )This royal pleasure palace and birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots became the backdrop for some of the most harrowing scenes of the show. Used as Wentworth Prison, the prison corridors and entrance were used in episode 15 of the first series when Jamie Fraser was brutally incarcerated by his adversary, Black Jack Randall. Claire helps Jamie to escape from the prison . Interior scenes were filmed at Wardlaw studio . Built by King James V in the 1400s , the now-ruined palace is set among the spectacular surrounds of Linlithgow Loch and Peel. The tour spends up to an hour at each location . 5. Hopetoun House
Hopetoun House and its grounds provided multiple filming locations for the series. The rear of the grand house was used as the Duke of Sandringham’s home (with scenes also filmed in the Red Drawing Room) in season 1. The courtyards provided the backdrop for the Parisian streets of season 2 as well as the Helwater stables in season 3. Meanwhile, the front of the house served as Ellesmere Manor in season 3.
