We DON'T require you to present a printed copy of your tickets to attend this experience. Please note, we won't access the inside of any of the buildings located at the following places: The Kings Yellow Houses, Rosenborg Castle, Christiansborg Palace, The Old Stock Exchange and Nikolaj Kunsthal. Instead we will experience all of them from the outside. If you want to upgrade your tour to include the major sights to your Hygge tour, please consider upgrading to our Total Copenhagen: Highlights & Hygge tour if it's available. This tour includes both the Hygge & Happiness tour and the major sights.

Itinerary
1. If you are going to get to the heart of hygge, you need to go back in time. We begin our Hygge & Happiness tour near the characteristic yellow houses of Nyboder, a famed local district. Here you’ll meet and greet your native guide and your group for the day. Your native guide is a bona fide Copenhagener who is super excited to share their knowledge of Danish culture with you, as well as local historical secrets that you won’t find in any guidebooks! And because our tours are for small groups only, your guide has plenty of time to answer
2. Your tour takes you through the oldest parts of the city, where you experience hidden gems in the form of cobblestone-filled streets, timber-framed houses, and green refuges of calm amongst the urban sprawl. Krusemyntegade is one of the cobblestone-filled streets that just scream hygge with that old world charm. It’s a great example of how hyggelig our city can be if you just take the time to wander.
3. This Copenhagen walking tour is not just about seeing the city’s greatest hits but tasting them too! So, get ready to get all of your senses tingling as we sample some Danish delights. World-renowned pastries is one of these delights and they indeed hold a very special place in us natives hearts. Let us give you a peak into the charm and the taste of Danish childhood and even adulthood that bring Copenhageners so much joy every single week. It’s the perfect way to kick off the morning in a leisurely way.
4. Let’s ditch the urban sprawl together and escape into a beautiful green haven, The Kings Garden. Here take in the spectacular beauty and calm in the midst of the busy historical inner city. As you wander, hear the dramatic story of how the once-royal park came to be one of the first public parks in the world (Hint: It include former kings with delusions of grandeur and mental insanity and inappropriate love triangles!).
5. Take in the spectacular views of Copenhagen’s miniature castle, Rosenborg. From outside the castle, tune into the castles secrets and hear about King Christian IV who build it back in the 17th century and his ingenious ideas about this damn cute castle!
6. Take a detour from the urban sprawl and find a refuge of calm and wander into a tucked-away alleyway with that fantastic old world charm. Sit down and enjoy the quiet atmosphere and bond with your group, as your native guide take out the Danish flødeboller for you to sample. Before taking your first bite, don’t forget to tune in as your guide tell you everything about this fantastic delicious treat and how it really play into Danish hygge culture from a very young age.
7. Notice the shift from the tucked-away gems your guide is showing you and how the stress changes as you walk from them on one of Europe's most busy pedestrian streets.
8. We want to escape the busy streets though, so we’ll take a de-route into a quiet cobble-stone filled square. Here your guide will let you stretch your neck all the way back to admire the spire throning on top of what seem to be a church, but not all is what it seems in Copenhagen today. Here your guide will share Copenhageners views of religion from outside the church and tell you how this plays into our culture as well even today! While you grab a picture of this neck-breaking building, your guide will just run into a store next door
9. The palace serves as the Danish parliament today, so here we will stop to tell you all the secrets about Danish politics, the mind-boggling Danish welfare system and the weird Danish cultural law of Jante. A two-tiered system that provide Danes with a very high degree of trust, which have helped us earn the title as some of the happiest people in the world pretty consistently for years. Find out why, as you guide will unravel how these concepts play into Danish happiness and maybe pick up some hacks for your own.
10. On the way back from Christiansborg Castle, your guide will show you one of Copenhagen's cutest streets, Magstræde. Here you will really find that old world charm and hear about a place that really connects people in Denmark and where hygge can really be found.
11. We conclude our Hygge & Happiness portion in one of Copenhagen’s best and most cute cafés located on a quiet street in the city centre, where you’ll experience hygge in its purest form. Here we will indulge in a cup of liquid joy and your native guide will give you your sustainable, slice of Copenhagen as a souvenir to remember your time here in our wonderful city. This is also the time for recommendations, so please feel free to ask your guide for any help or assistance you might need. We would be happy to help.
