Itinerary

1. Birmingham Canalside
Look out for your guide smiling in orange! We'll meet at the historic Eagle and Ball pub, and start your tour by telling you how Birmingham's Graffiti and Street Art scene began and the relevance of the Banksy mural that appeared in our Jewellery Quarter in 2019 (spoiler: it was here way before Banksy made his mark). We'll then take a secret route along the decorated canals to Digbeth, the epicentre of Birminghams Street Art Scene.
Duration: 15 mins
2. Digbeth
After, we'll walk or run on to various sights and murals within Digbeth. Some of which detailed below. You'll stop to admire, photograph and learn all about the art and the Home-Grown Artists behind it.
Duration: 25 mins
3. Lock Keepers Cottage (Birmingham canals)
The 1st stop on our tour is the Lock Keepers Cottage, which has a brilliant story attached to it, as well as it's decoration by one of Birminghams female artists.
Duration: 10 mins
4. Lower Trinity Street
In this Car Park you'll meet Pongo the orangutan, created for Animal Rights Activism by Louis Masai.
Duration: 10 mins
5. Custard Factory
Set in 15 acres of beautifully restored Victorian Factories, just a short walk from the Bullring, the iconic Custard Factory is the heart of Birmingham’s buzzing creative quarter. The former HQ of Bird’s Custard (the famous egg-free custard powder) is now a creative hub home to many independent shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and of course ART. We'll discuss the stance of a private venue on graffiti and street art - does it improve or degrade an area?
Duration: 20 mins
6. suki10c
We'll visit this eco-friendly live music venue covered in a mural created during Black History month to celebrate Birminghams young, black creatives and also speak about how it was used following George Floyds murder.
Duration: 10 mins
