This group tour is exclusively in English. Our city tour enables the visitor to discover the best of Bayeux and Normandy history. Admire and identify the architectural features of its medieval buildings and its superb cathedral. Let your guide regal you with stories of ancient trades and old customs. This tour is perfect to complement your visit to the D-Day beaches, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Museum of Arts and History, the War Memorial Museum and the Bayeux cathedral. We aim to provide an enjoyable and informative tour. Our guides are fluent, knowledgeable and fun! Suitable for >8 years old. All participants should have a good level of English.
Meeting and Pickup
RDV: Tourist Office. Please arrive a few minutes before. Guides wear a green hat or scarf. NB: our tour is guaranteed with 2 adults. If your booking is for 1 and you are the only client on the tour, you will be offered to pay for another adult, for the 2h tour OR the tour will be reduced to 1h.

Itinerary
1. The tour starts here. Not all stops are listed below. More than 20 stops will give us the opportunity to teach you about linguistic expressions, old habits, famous historical figures, architecture, events... our commentary is cheerful and informative
2. Learn about medieval industries such as tanning and dyeing and how river Aure is at the heart of these activities
3. Learn about the impact of the Augustine sisters on the Bayeux community and how one of them left her mark in a country we now call Canada! In this alley, we will also stop in front of the Tapestry Museum, now closed until October 2027, so we will explain talk about the many events and characters surrounding the famous Battle of Hastings and the accession of William the Conqueror to the throne of England, illustrated on the famous 11th century embroidery. We will also talk about its historical importance, the methods of its fabrication together with more facts and figures.
4. Understand why this 200+ old sycamore tree is called Liberty Tree and learn about French Revolution
5. Learn about the different stages of the construction of Bayeux cathedral and discover its many architectural features
6. Let your guide explain the origins of Bayeux dating from Celtic times and admire the ruins of the Roman castrum

The many standing stops might become tiring for back sufferers or pregnant ladies: we recommend you bring a foldable stool. We will also use public benches wherever possible.
Be mindful that there are no "nature call" stops during this 2 hour tour, therefore it is recommended to plan ahead.
