This area is known as one of the Sacred Sites in this area. We next visit spectacular Castle Lake. Learn about Limnology, the study of the crystal clear water. We spend the second half of the tour on the mountain. We will explore the lower slopes of Mt. Shasta by driving Everitt Memorial Highway, the only paved road on Mt. Shasta. We'll take short side trips to unique sites. We will continue and stop at Red Fir Flat. Learn about the Shasta Red Firs and visit Ascension Rock. We will continue to Bunny Flat, the main trailhead.
