Overview

The Haunted Harbor Tour isn’t just a boat ride—it’s a journey into the shadowy side of America’s oldest seaport. While other tours skim the surface, we take you deeper, blending true local history with spine-tingling ghost lore you won’t hear anywhere else. From the deck of our vessel, you’ll see Plymouth’s most storied landmarks—Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II, Burial Hill, Cole’s Hill, Bug Light, and more—exactly as they appear under the cover of night. Every stop along our route comes alive through vivid storytelling, researched local legends, and the natural drama of the harbor after dark. You’ll feel the sea breeze, hear the lap of waves against the hull, and see the silhouettes of centuries-old landmarks as their ghost stories unfold. Our small-group setting ensures a more personal, immersive experience—plenty of time to soak in the eerie atmosphere between tales. It’s equal parts history, mystery, and pure New England coastal magic.

Itinerary

1. Pilgrim Memorial State Park
From the deck, you’ll see Plymouth Rock—the legendary landing site of the Pilgrims—nestled beneath its granite canopy. Just offshore, the full-scale replica Mayflower II rests at her berth, evoking the perilous voyage across the Atlantic. As the lights glint off her rigging, your guide shares the myths, truths, and ghost stories tied to the town’s most iconic symbols.
2. Burial Hill
cemetery dating back to the 1600s; by night, it’s said to be home to wandering spirits. From the water, you’ll hear tales of Victorian apparitions, phantom footsteps, and the restless souls that have been sighted among the weathered stones.
3. Coles Hill
You’ll drift past Cole’s Hill, where the Pilgrims buried their dead during the brutal first winter of 1620–1621. Many believe their disturbed remains—unearthed over centuries—still haunt this slope overlooking the harbor. As you listen to the stories, the hill takes on a spectral presence against the night sky.
4. Plymouth
In the distance looms the Captain Thompson Phillips House, one of America’s first documented haunted homes. This 18th-century property was once the center of a poltergeist case so bizarre it landed in court records. From the water, the house stands as a dark silhouette, with your guide recounting its unnerving history.
5. Duxbury Pier Light
Standing guard at the entrance to Plymouth Harbor, the cast-iron Duxbury Pier Light—nicknamed “Bug Light” for its squat, cylindrical shape—flashes its beacon across the darkened water. From the deck, you’ll hear how this 1871 lighthouse weathered storms, shipwrecks, and isolation, along with eerie tales of keepers who may still watch over the harbor long after their final watch ended.
6. Gurnett Light
Farther out, the Gurnet Light sends a solitary beam across the bay. This lighthouse has been linked to the spirit of Hannah Thomas, America’s first female lighthouse keeper, and to tragic lovers said to have leapt from the nearby cliffs. As the waves lap against the hull, the stories come alive under the sweep of the light.
