The first is that of Amun (ancient Egyptian Ipet-sut “place of election”). The second area is the District of Month and the third area is that of Mut. The oldest remains of the temple that are still visible today date from the 12th dynasty under Sesostris. The temple complex was continually expanded and rebuilt until the Roman Empire.
