Overview

La Leona Waterfall Hike An intimate private tour of the most off the beaten path trail to La Leona Waterfall. The day consists of a moderate 2-hour hike alongside the blue waters of Rio Blanco located deep in the canyons of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano where you will spot wildlife with your local guide along the way. You will be lead along the shaded path that goes upriver, stopping by 5 different pools and passing through a stone canyon, caves and small waterfalls until you reach the entrance of the canyon that leads to La Leona waterfall. Here you put your things in a drybag to jump into the water and swim a short distance to the waterfall. The waterfall has a stone beach in front of it where you can take photos. There is also a nice pool to splash around. Professioncal local tour guide and Costa Rican style lunch Included Important: The trails has many rocks and roots. There are sections that involve swimming and crossing the river. Life Jackets are provided.

1. La Leona Waterfall
An intimate private tour along one of the most off-the-beaten-path trails to La Leona Waterfall. Enjoy a moderate 2-hour hike alongside the blue waters of Río Blanco, deep in the canyons of Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. Along the way, your local guide will help you spot wildlife while you explore shaded trails, 5 natural pools, a stone canyon, caves, and small waterfalls before reaching the canyon entrance to La Leona. At the canyon, you’ll place your belongings in a dry bag, then swim a short distance to the waterfall. Enjoy the stone beach, take photos, and relax in the pool before lunch. Recommended for children ages 4 and up. Parents should use their discretion based on their child’s abilities and comfort level. This tour is for hikers with no current physical injuries or health concerns. The trail has many rocks and roots, with sections involving swimming and river crossings. We do not recommend this tour for anyone uncomfortable in the water. Life jackets are provided.
