1. Start your St. Augustine Historic Walking Tour on the Oldest Street in America! Meet your guide and the other guests to have an overview of what you will be covering in the next 90 minutes
2. The Plaza de la Constitución sits at the center of our historic city. Bordered by the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, Trinity Episcopal, and the Government House, the plaza faces the Bridge of Lions and features a central pavilion used for city events, private events, and live entertainment.
3. As we stroll along the waterfront, we'll discuss the oldest standing fort in the continental United States!
4. Over 200 years old, the gate was constructed in 1808, but its history dates back another one hundred years, when St. Augustine was attacked by Carolinian Governor James Moore and his troops.
5. The backbone of the city, St. George Street in St. Augustine is a thoroughfare, pedestrian-only street lined with restaurants, shops, attractions, and immersed in history.
6. The St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine, is dedicated to the first colony of Greek, Italian, and Minorcan peoples who came to New Smyrna in 1768. The Shrine consists of exhibits depicting the life of these Mediterranean immigrants in Florida and their arrival to St. Augustine in 1777.
7. The former Ponce de Leon Hotel was an exclusive luxury hotel in St. Augustine, Florida, built by millionaire developer and Standard Oil co-founder Henry M. Flagler and completed in 1888. The hotel was designed in the Spanish Renaissance style as the first major project of the New York architecture firm Carrère & Hastings, which would go on to gain world renown.
