Itinerary

1. Valley of the Kings
Upon arrival at Luxor International Airport, you will meet your private Egyptologist tour guide and drive to the West Bank of Luxor, where your sightseeing begins with the legendary Valley of the Kings. Hidden among the rugged cliffs of the Theban mountains, this royal necropolis was chosen by the pharaohs of the New Kingdom as their final resting place. Enter the ancient tombs and discover beautifully preserved scenes of gods, rituals, and the journey to the afterlife, brought to life by your guide. Learn how the tombs were designed, why this remote valley was chosen, and what the inscriptions reveal about ancient Egyptian beliefs. You may also visit the Tomb of Tutankhamun; **a separate entrance ticket is required, and access is subject to availability on the day of your visit**. Surrounded by desert cliffs and thousands of years of history, the Valley of the Kings offers an unforgettable beginning to your journey through ancient Luxor.
Duration: 180 mins
2. Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut
Continue to the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, dramatically rising from the desert beneath the towering cliffs of the Theban mountains. Built for Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt’s most remarkable female pharaohs, the temple unfolds across broad terraces, elegant colonnades, and sacred spaces carved into the rock. Explore beautifully preserved reliefs depicting religious, offerings, divine figures, and the famous expedition to the land of Punt. Your Egyptologist guide will bring Hatshepsut’s extraordinary story to life, from her rise to the throne to the spiritual purpose of this sacred temple dedicated to Amun. Take a moment to absorb the atmosphere—the warm desert air, immense cliffs, ancient stone, and peaceful silence create a strong sense of connection with the beliefs of ancient Egypt. Standing here, surrounded by the mountains and Hatshepsut’s timeless architecture, you can feel the presence of a pharaoh whose story still echoes across Luxor today.
Duration: 120 mins
3. Colossi of Memnon
Continue across Luxor’s West Bank to the towering Colossi of Memnon, two monumental stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have watched over the Theban landscape for more than 3,000 years. Rising dramatically against the desert sky, the enormous seated figures once guarded the entrance to a vast temple complex built by the powerful New Kingdom pharaoh. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the story of Amenhotep III, the original temple, and the fascinating history behind the name “Colossi of Memnon.” Take a moment to stand before these weathered giants and look closely at the surviving details carved into the stone. With the mountains of the West Bank behind you and the Nile Valley stretching into the distance, this short stop offers a striking encounter with the scale, power, and enduring legacy of ancient Thebes.
Duration: 15 mins
4. The Karnak Temple
Continue to the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest and most impressive religious sites ever built. Dedicated primarily to Amun-Ra, the great state god of ancient Thebes, Karnak grew over more than 2,000 years as successive pharaohs added temples, pylons, obelisks, statues, and sacred courtyards. Walk through the monumental gateway and enter the Great Hypostyle Hall, where 134 massive columns rise above you like a forest of stone, many still carrying traces of ancient reliefs and inscriptions. Your Egyptologist guide will reveal the stories of the kings who shaped Karnak, the rituals once performed here, and the beliefs that made this sacred complex the spiritual heart of ancient Thebes. As you stand among the towering columns and weathered monuments, surrounded by the scale of the temple and the silence of its ancient spaces, you can feel why Karnak remains one of Egypt’s most extraordinary places to experience the power and spirituality of the pharaonic world.
Duration: 120 mins
5. Luxor Temple
Continue to Luxor Temple, where towering columns, colossal statues, and golden sandstone rise directly beside the lively streets of modern Luxor. Built and expanded by pharaohs including Amenhotep III, Tutankhamun, and Ramses II, this magnificent sanctuary was connected to Karnak by the ancient Avenue of Sphinxes and played a central role in the annual Opet Festival. Walk beneath the massive First Pylon and stand before the colossal statues of Ramses II and the surviving obelisk, then move through elegant courtyards, towering columns, and sacred chambers filled with ancient reliefs and inscriptions. Your Egyptologist guide will bring the temple to life, explaining the rituals once performed here and the beliefs surrounding kingship, the gods, and renewal. With warm light falling across the weathered stone and the energy of modern Luxor all around you, this is a place where ancient Thebes feels remarkably close enough to touch.
