Every January through March, gray whales complete the longest migration of any mammal on earth — from the Arctic to the warm Pacific lagoons of Baja California Sur to give birth. Puerto Chale is one of those lagoons, and The Hook takes small private groups directly into it. These are not distant whale sightings from a cliff. Puerto Chale is a shallow enclosed lagoon where gray whale mothers bring their calves. Boats operate at close range under strict permits, and curious whales frequently approach the boats.
