Itinerary

1. Place St-Francois
We will start the visit on St. Francis Square and Church, south entrance to the medieval city of Lausanne and privileged place for exchanges between locals and Traveler from elsewhere.

2. Rue de Bourg
We will continue to THE historic shopping street, with lots of shops and stories about Things to do and the sociology of its inhabitants.

3. Pont Charles Bessieres
We will cross the bridge connecting the two historic hills of Lausanne. We will talk about the topography of Lausanne and the development of urban infrastructure to adapt to it.

4. Cathedrale de Lausanne
The cathedral is THE iconic building of Lausanne. We discovered the stages and elements of its construction as well as the many historical events & anecdotes related to it. An outdoor tour of the esplanade with its panoramic view of the city and a short inside tour of the building are on the program.

5. Chateau Saint-Maire
The castle marks the northern limit of the city, at the top of the Cité hill. This place of power, past and present, is the ideal place to describe the political evolution of the city and canton in the Middle Ages and modern times. We will also get to know THE historical hero of the canton: Major DAVEL, key figure in the independence of the "Pays de Vaud".

This monumental neo-florentine palace is an important marker of the period of the Industrial Revolution and the emphasis on science, education and knowledge. We will walk through it to see its different spaces and tell the key historical elements that took place there.

Its history is rich and marked a decisive stage in the historical development of Lausanne during the Swiss industrial revolution, between the 19th and 20th centuries. OPTIONAL PAID ( + 5 CHF/pers) according to desires This historic café and recreation area is a magnificent building, located on a hill overlooking Lake Geneva and a magnificent view.
