2. Start your culinary journey in the Vieux Port, the heart of past and present Marseille, with a taste of the famous roasted camembert à la Provençale. You can try to dip a crouton in it. It’s delicious. Alternatively, have a taste of Provençal cheese, paired with local drinks, such as the famous pastis, the iconic anise-flavoured apéritif from Marseille.
3. Experience the Marseille half-and-half: pizza in its most authentic form, built on a base of fresh, uncooked tomato sauce that brings a bright, slightly tangy flavor to every bite. One half is generously topped with grated Emmental, melting into a smooth, golden layer with a mild, nutty richness. The other half celebrates the bold character of the Mediterranean, with salty anchovies laid over the tomato base, sometimes enhanced with a touch of olive oil and a sprinkle of herbs.
4. Have a stroll along La Canebière, one of the most famous and historical streets in Marseille. Its named after Canabe, the Provençal term for hemp, that grew in that area.
