Overview

Food Hood Tours Mexico — come ride with us and get a feel for everyday life in Mexico City. We’ll start with a drink to break the ice and get to know each other, then hop on our bikes and explore Santa María la Ribera and San Rafael at an easy pace. This is about more than monuments. We’ll talk about what it’s really like to live in Mexico City today — how the city is changing, what we love, what drives us crazy, and the stories behind everyday life here. We’ll visit a traditional market, try some favorite street food, meet food vendors, and share stories about our city and our lives. Some are funny, some surprising, and some a little deeper. We’ll finish with pulque and a cold michelada. Think of it as a few hours riding around with friends who happen to live here. Good food, good conversation, and a different side of Mexico City. Come curious, hungry, and ready to hang out.

Itinerary

1. Paseo de la Reforma
Here, we’ll break the ice by enjoying some food and drinks — depending on the tour time, we might start with tamales or tacos — a delicious way to get to know each other.
Duration: 20 mins
2. Paseo de la Reforma
"Here, we'll make a pit stop to discuss a highly controversial topic in Mexico, one that the mainstream media often neglects but deeply permeates the lives of Mexicans. We're committed to fighting for change and shedding light on this issue that remains largely unaddressed."
Duration: 20 mins
3. San Rafael
We’ll start with something super delicious called **sopes** — one of our absolute favorites! They’re made with blue corn and served at a **traditional street food stand**, giving you a real taste of Mexico City’s everyday food culture. Then we’ll explore **San Rafael**, nestled near the Tabacalera district in Mexico City. It’s a captivating neighborhood that effortlessly blends urban charm with artistic flair, with tree-lined streets and a lively mix of historic architecture and contemporary establishments.
Duration: 30 mins
4. Cine Opera
It is of art deco style, with a cover in which stand out two sculptures carved in stone showing the masks of comedy and tragedy. Behind them there is a large window that illuminated the lobby of the cinema. In its interiors it had luxurious furnishings and coverings such as bronze and crystal chandeliers and mirrored walls.
Duration: 20 mins
5. Santa Maria la Ribera
We’ll continue with **more traditional Mexican food**, discovering different flavors and dishes along the way. From **Monday to Saturday**, we’ll also visit a really interesting traditional market, where you can experience a more authentic side of Mexico City and see the ingredients, colors, and everyday life of a local market. **On Sundays, the route may be slightly different**, but we’ll still make sure to introduce you to plenty of delicious traditional Mexican food. We’ll also explore **Santa María la Ribera**, a charming neighborhood known for its mix of architectural styles, reflecting different periods of Mexico’s history. You’ll find beautiful Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and neoclassical buildings throughout the area. One of its most iconic landmarks is the **Kiosco Morisco**, an ornate iron-and-glass gazebo inspired by Moorish architecture.
Duration: 40 mins
6. Kiosco Morisco
The Kiosco Morisco is a kiosk, pavilion, located in the center of the Alameda, at the intersection of Dr. Atl and Salvador Díaz Mirón streets, in the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood, in Mexico City, being the symbol of the neighborhood, one of its most characteristic constructions and a meeting place for the community. "Additionally, we'll enjoy another mouthwatering dish to keep discovering the rich variety of Mexican cuisine. It's a chance to continue exploring and savoring the diverse flavors that make this culinary tradition so remarkable.
Duration: 30 mins
7. Monumento y Museo de la Revolucion
we'll make a stop to enjoy a refreshing local beverage called pulque, while we visit the Monument to the Revolution. Pulque, a traditional Mexican drink, adds a unique and authentic touch to our experience. It's a must-try for those seeking to immerse themselves in the local culture and savor the flavors that have been cherished for generations. So, get ready to raise a glass of pulque as we explore the grandeur of the Monument to the Revolution.
Duration: 40 mins
8. Paseo de la Reforma
We’ll make our way back to the meeting point, where we’ll take some time to share a few tips and recommendations for your time in Mexico City while enjoying a refreshing Mexico City–style michelada ️. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the tour, relax, and chat about some of our favorite things to do, eat, and explore around the city.
