Itinerary

1. Fort Saint-Jean
Recently restored, Fort Saint-Jean is a historical monument dating back to the 12th century, and a great place to indulge in scenic strolls through its gardens, and enjoy stunning views of the Mediterranean coastline. A 130-meter long rooftop walkway links the fort to the Museum of the Civilisations of Europe and the Mediterranean - colloquially known as the MuCEM -, the centrepiece of Marseille’s stint as European Capital Culture in 2013. Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
Duration: 5 mins
2. Mucem
The museum is devoted to European and Mediterranean civilisations. With a permanent collection charting historical and cultural cross-fertilisation in the Mediterranean basin, it takes an interdisciplinary approach to society through the ages up to modern times. Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
Duration: 10 mins
3. Musee Regards de Provence
The Regards de Provence museum is a museum created in Marseille in 2013 by the Regards de Provence Foundation in the former sanitary station of the port of Marseille. Its collection, made up by private patrons, consists of 850 works of art from the modern era to today, brought together to promote the artistic and cultural heritage of Marseille, Provence and the Mediterranean. Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
Duration: 10 mins
4. Cathedrale La Major
Cathédrale Sainte-Marie-Majeure de Marseille or Cathédrale de la Major is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, located in Marseille. It has been a basilica minor since 1896. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Marseille (formerly the Diocese of Marseille until its elevation in 1948). Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
Duration: 10 mins
5. 2 Rue de la Charité
La Vieille Charité is a former almshouse, now functioning as a museum and cultural centre, situated in the heart of the old Panier quarter of Marseille in the south of France. Constructed between 1671 and 1749 in the Baroque style to the designs of the architect Pierre Puget, it comprises four ranges of arcaded galleries in three storeys surrounding a space with a central chapel surmounted by an ovoid dome. Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
Duration: 10 mins
6. La Maison Diamantee
Besides its name, the history of this house is a curiosity in itself. Located just behind the City Hall, the Maison Diamantée (Diamond House) owes its name to its facade of pointed stones. It was built between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century (perhaps 1570 but there is still some doubt). This makes it one of the oldest houses in Marseille with the Hôtel Cabre. It was built on the demand of wealthy Italian and Spanish traders. With its architectural beauty and style inspired by the Medici Italy, it has long housed the famous Marseilles families such as the Saboulin. Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
Duration: 10 mins
7. Port Antique
Some of the city's finest archaeological finds have been incorporated into Marseille's history museum (Musée d'Histoire de Marseille): fortifications of the Greek town, the quays of the ancient port and a 4C road into the town, as well as remains of the Roman ramparts built out of the pink limestone of Cap Couronne. Here you will have to look around to find the answer to a question/challenge/puzzle to advance to the new location and learn the story of this place.
