Get your discount tickets for the Guided hike on Mt. Rainier - old forest, falls and glacier views, save up to 9% !
Overview
On this tour to Mt. Rainier National Park there is a lot of diversity from alpine environment to old growth forest in lower elevation. We drive to the highlights in the park and you will experience diverse landscapes and scenery such as glaciers, mountains, waterfalls, rivers, and tall trees in old-growth forest. You will be on guided shorter hikes at points of interest. In the winter areas of the park may be closed some days and not all highlights will be accessible at times - from November to June snowshoes/crampons will be provided when necessary since there is often snow on the trails in those months.
Meeting and Pickup
We will meet outside Sephora next to the big arch on 415 Pine St. I will be wearing a pink flower fleece pullover, so it should be easy to spot me.
Itinerary
1. We drive to Mt. Rainier National Park (2 hours) and hike from the visitor center at Paradise for about a mile where we picnic close to some giant glaciers. We then hike back for a mile and drive to viewpoints with panoramic views and we see the Narada Falls and the Christine Falls, old growth forests with a thousand year old big trees and the Reflection Lakes. In Winter and Spring seasons (November-June) we will snowshoe rather than hiking - no experience required.
2. Pick up and drop off is in Seattle downtown.
3. Alternatively, pick up and drop off is near the Space Needle, if requested.
4. We hike about a mile near the glaciers in the area of Paradise in 5,500 feet elevation. This is also where the main visitor center is located in Mt. Rainier National Park.
5. We hike to the bottom of Narada Falls - 168-foot fall near Paradise.
6. We see the Reflection Lakes where Mt. Rainier is often reflected in the summer time. In the winter the lake is frozen and the road is closed.
7. We see the Christine Falls under the old stone bridge.
8. We walk in old-growth forest in the National Park near Longmire in lower elevation.
