Itinerary

1. San Andres Cholula
Our tour will begin with a visit to Cholula, recognized as a Magic Town for its historical and cultural wealth. We will visit the Great Pyramid of Cholula, the largest pyramid basement in the world by volume. At the top is the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies, a 16th century temple with a beautiful view of the valley. Then we will head to the former Convent of San Gabriel, one of the oldest Franciscan complexes in Mexico, built in the 16th century. It stands out for its sober architecture and wide open chapel, key in the evangelization of the region. We will continue in the Plaza de la Concordia, heart of the city, surrounded by traditional portals. Finally we will visit the Temple of Santa Maria Tonantzintla, celebrated for its indigenous baroque interior of the 17th and 18th centuries, an example of the syncretism between indigenous tradition and the Catholic faith.
Duration: 180 mins
2. We will head to the Magic Town of Atlixco, a city with pre-Hispanic roots and great importance during colonial times for its agricultural and textile production. Thanks to its privileged climate and colorful nurseries, today it is known as "Atlixco de las Flores". Our first stop will be at the viewpoint of Cerro de San Miguel, an emblematic site topped by the chapel dedicated to the Archangel San Miguel, built in the 16th century. This hill was an old ceremonial center and is currently one of the most representative points of the city. From its top you can enjoy spectacular views and take incredible photographs with Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes as a majestic background.
Duration: 120 mins
3. Atlixco
On our third and final stop we will visit the former Convent of Carmen, founded in 1608 by Franciscans at the foot of Cerro de San Miguel. Dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen, it is a historical and religious reference of the city. As we descend we will know the traditional Wide Stairs, whose steps were intervened with murals by the local artist Juan Manuel Martínez Caltenco, with floral motifs that represent the identity of Atlixco. Then we will pause at Ximitl Ice Cream Shop to taste artisanal seasonal ice cream. We will continue along Calle de las Flores towards the zocalo to admire the mosaic-decorated Kiosk of Atlixco and the 17th century Parish of Santa María de la Natividad, ending with the murals of the Municipal Palace.
