Itinerary

1. Nevado de Toluca
Nevado de Toluca, meaning "naked lord" in Nahuatl, stands as Mexico's fourth-highest mountain. This extinct volcano, soaring at 4,600 meters, boasts nine peaks and two picturesque lagoons, perfect for hiking and the possibility of glimpsing the rare teporingos or volcano rabbits, native to the area. For those inclined and in good physical condition, can ascend to one of its popular peaks, Águila or Fraile. These peaks encircle part of the volcano crater, offering stunning views of the Sol and Luna lagoons.
Duration: 300 mins
2. Toluca
Toluca's name originates from the Nahuatl word Tollocan, signifying "place where the god Tolo is". Stroll beneath the grand nineteenth-century portals, which are the largest in Mexico, and admire the architectural diversity of the buildings, reflecting various styles such as baroque, neoclassical, modernist, and contemporary.

CONTACT: Please provide a valid contact phone number with the international prefix (e.g., +11111111111) as our guide may need it for pickup. Please ensure it's available on the day of the tour. Alternatively, if we cannot find and reach you, the tour will be considered a no-show.

ACLIMATIZATION: Nevado de Toluca is ‎4,680 m high (vs. Mexico City with ~2,300 m) with 538 m elevation gain on the trail that we are gonna take, so for travelers coming from lower altitudes, it’s recommended to take at least 1-2 days in Mexico City upon arrival for adaptation to avoid altitude sickness.

HIKE: This tour involves at least ~10 km of hiking, so travelers should have moderate physical condition.

MEETING POINT: Please note that hotel pickup and drop-off are only included in the private tour option. For the group tour, you will need to meet your guide at the designated meeting point.
