Itinerary
1. Rideau Hall - The official home of the Governor General of Canada. In 1977, Rideau Hall and the surrounding sites were also part of Canada’s national historic heritage.
2. The canal was opened in 1832 as a precaution in case of war with the United States. It remains in use today primarily for pleasure boating, with most of its original structures intact, operated by Parks Canada. The locks on the system open for navigation in mid-May and close in mid-October. It is the oldest continuously operated canal system in North America, and in 2007 it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
3. Parliament Hill is one of Canada’s most iconic landmarks, located in Ottawa and overlooking the Ottawa River. It is the political and cultural heart of the country. At its center is the Centre Block and the famous Peace Tower, surrounded by historic Gothic-style buildings. Visitors can explore the grounds, join guided tours, and experience national events like Canada Day. A visit to Parliament Hill offers a perfect mix of history, architecture, and scenic views.
4. ByWard Market is one of the oldest and liveliest districts in Ottawa, known for its vibrant mix of history, culture, and local flavor. By day, the market features fresh produce, artisan goods, boutiques, and cozy cafés. By night, it transforms into a lively hotspot with restaurants, bars, and entertainment. A must-try here is the famous BeaverTails pastry. With its energetic atmosphere and variety of experiences, ByWard Market is a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors.
