Overview
You will get an inside perspective of the changing scenes of Shanghai on this 4-hour walking tour that explores old city districts where local residents can be seen playing cards on street corners and walking the alleys in their pajamas! You will witness the great changes and the developments of recent 30 years in Shanghai. The tour includes Bund, Yu Garden, an ancient Chinese Tea house, local insects market, and the trendy French Concession.
Meeting and Pickup
The Fairmont Peace hotel locates at No. 20 Nanjing Road East, Shanghai. You can either take a cab from your hotel or try the Metro line 2 or line 10 to East Nanjing Road station. If you take Metro, you need to walk about 10 minutes from the station to the hotel.
End Point
The tour will end at the Langham Shanghai Xintiandi hotel. It locates at No. 99 Madang Road in Shanghai.

Itinerary
1. The tour begins with a visit to the Bund which for years was the symbol of Shanghai. You will see the new financial and commercial skyscrapers as well as 100 years old colonial-style buildings along the Huangpu river from there.
2. Then you will walk to Yuyuan Garden, one of the finest private gardens in China, known for its classic landscape architecture. After the garden visit, you will have a rest in a local tea house where you can try the Chinese tea ceremony.
3. Stop at a market that sells birds and crickets, as well as an antique market, where you can rummage for bargain items. Wander down lively streets filled with local residents, sometimes still dressed in their pajamas. See tiny family-owned shops and elderly folk playing cards on the streets.
4. Once you reach Xintiandi, the scenery will change, and Old Shanghai gives way to its new cosmopolitan face. The stylish nightlife district is crammed with boutique stores, busy pubs and bars, and chic restaurants. Once known as the Old Shikumen area, the antique charm has been gentrified to international levels of sophistication.
