This colossal temple, originally boasting 104 massive columns, honored Zeus, king of the Olympian gods, and housed one of the ancient world’s largest cult statues.
4. Pause at the Panathenaic Stadium, originally built in 330 BC for the Panathenaic Games and later rebuilt in marble by Herodes Atticus around 144 AD. With a seating capacity of 60,000, it’s the only stadium in the world made entirely of marble.
