1. Tiananmen

Tiananmen Square is the best-known symbol of modern China. With a surface area of 440,000 square meters, 880 meters long and 500 meters wide, this is the largest square in China, and the sixth largest in the world. It is especially well known as the location of two important historical events. It was here that Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, and 50 years later it bore witness to the massacre of opponents of the Communist regime.

2. National Museum Of China

The National Museum is the largest museum in the world. It was established in February 2003, and comprises the National Museum of Chinese History and the Museum of the Chinese Revolution.

3. Temple of Heaven

he Temple of Heaven is a huge complex of magnificent buildings, erected between 1406 and 1420 during the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming dynasty, who also ordered the building of the Forbidden City. It was reserved for nobility and members of the imperial court, and was destined for the cult of Taoism, a Chinese religion based on philosophical doctrines.
