6. The square is composed of an esplanade descending gently towards the Garonne and surrounded by planted walks. There are the monumental statues of Montaigne and Montesquieu by sculptor Dominique Fortuné Maggesi in white marble, which were placed there in 1858.
7. The Aquitaine Bridge is a suspension bridge located on the Bordeaux ring road, in the Gironde department and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is the last bridge over the Garonne before its estuary, the Gironde, and the Atlantic Ocean.
