Khao Rang is not very high but its location makes it fun for lunch or dinner with a good bird view of Phuket Town. Rang Hill used to be a fitness park but has lost its popularity, maybe because of the growing monkey population. The lofty site offers the best 360-degree views of the island, with sweeping vistas of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon, Chalong Bay and more. Reachable via a winding, 6-km road leading from Phuket's main roads, it's a must-visit island destination.

Every evening, tour buses, scooters and private cars sweep through Rawai Beach and up the island's southernmost hill to watch the sunset, which can also be spelt as 'Phromthep Cape' (though it's said the same way). There's also a lighthouse displaying interesting historical maritime artefacts here. It commands spectacular views over the east and southeast of the island and its environs.
