To honor this touching tale, the Temple of Eighteen Deities was founded. Each year from March to May, the reef’s surface is constantly battered by waves from the northeast monsoon, fostering the growth of algae. However, in 1962, the current cement lighthouse emerged, adorned in striking black and white colors to aid visibility for passing vessels. Surrounding the lighthouse is a scenic walking trail, beckoning visitors to meander and soak in the awe-inspiring coastal panoramas of Taiwan’s Northern Coast.
