Itinerary
1. Marvel at the "inside-out" architecture of this controversial building which houses the world's largest modern art museum. Your guide will share a brief overview of what the building means to Parisians who have a love-hate relationship with this colorful landmark. You might decide to return at a later time and pay to visit inside for the current exhibits or you can take a free ride up to the top for a fabulous view of Paris from up high.
2. Take a peek behind the door to journey back to a medieval time as your guide shares the brief history of one of the last remaining cloisters in Paris.
3. Stroll down this medieval 15th centruy dead-end road named for a crossbow shooting range and hear about it's history that dates back to buildings from the 13th century. Your guide will also explain why this charming street is shiny and new on one side and gritty on the other side, complete with street art and graffiti.
4. Wander down this classic photo-worthy street in the Jewish quarter of the Marais and learn about a culture that has withstood the gentrification of recent times. Your guide can help point out some of the remaining authentic deli's and shops and give you time to pop in and treat yourself to a snack
5. Visit this historic library housed in one of the oldest mansions in the Marais, the Hôtel de Lamoignon. Take a peek inside and make your plans to return and explore the over 1 million books, documents and maps with details of Paris from the 16th century to present day Paris.
6. Discover the Musee Carnavalet, the city’s top history museum and one of the city's rare examples of Renaissance architecture. Soak up the regal atmosphere as you stroll along the picturesque gardens
7. Stroll through the Place des Vosges, a 17th-century square once home to Victor Hugo. You and your guide and fellow travelers may like to sit for a moment amidst the welcoming grounds as your guide regales you with stories about this epicenter of the Marais
8. Meander through this scenic courtyard of a private mansion, built in the early 17th century when the Marais was especally notable for it's royal and upper class residents and visitors and which today is responsible for the management of historic buildings and monuments
