ITINERARY Stop 1: Hotel Pickup in Fairbanks Michael picks up your group personally from your Fairbanks hotel or Airbnb. Timing is flexible on private tours—we coordinate a departure that works for your group around the night's aurora forecast and your schedule. For accommodations outside downtown, we meet at the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center. Stop 2: Scenic Drive into the Alaskan Interior Leave the city lights behind as you drive through dark spruce forests and open valleys into some of the darkest, most aurora-active skies in North America. The drive is part of the experience—keep an eye out for moose and other wildlife along the way. Stop 3: Private Aurora Viewing at the Wilderness Lodge This is what sets a private tour apart: the lodge is yours, and yours alone—no strangers, no shared space, no fixed schedule. Settle in by the fire, step out under the open sky whenever the lights call you, and take in the aurora entirely at your group's own pace. On clear nights your viewing runs as long as you like, with full freedom to move between the warm interior and the open deck. If clouds develop, Michael takes your group mobile to chase clear skies. Duration: Flexible, based on your group's preferences and aurora activity Stop 4: Return to Fairbanks Drop-off at your hotel, with a return time that flexes to the night's aurora activity and your group's wishes—we stay out while the sky is still giving you a show. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Minimum 2 guests, up to 9 guests per private tour Per-person pricing scales with group size—contact us for a quote for your party Families with children under 10 are welcome on private tours (group tours have a minimum age of 10) Dress in warm layers—temperatures can drop well below zero. Cold-weather gear can be rented locally If you plan to photograph the aurora, bring a sturdy tripod We'll contact you before the tour to coordinate timing and talk through the aurora forecast. If a different night looks better, we'll tell you—rescheduling is free Aurora sightings depend on natural conditions and can't be guaranteed. Booking 3 or more consecutive nights significantly increases your odds We have friendly dogs at the lodge—let us know in advance if anyone has allergies
