Itinerary

1. The Pyramids Of Giza
Stand before the Great Pyramid of Giza, the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World and one of the most extraordinary monuments ever built. Constructed for Pharaoh Khufu more than 4,500 years ago, this colossal pyramid once rose about 146 meters above the desert and required an astonishing feat of planning, engineering, and human effort. Walk across the Giza Plateau and feel the scale of the enormous limestone courses rising above you. Your Egyptologist guide will explain how the pyramid was built, why it was created as a royal tomb, and the beliefs about kingship and the afterlife that shaped its design. Look closely at the monument’s precise geometry and imagine the ancient landscape surrounding it when Giza was a thriving royal necropolis. Then take a moment to stand at its base, look upward, and let the scale sink in—you are standing before a monument you have seen in photographs your whole life, but experiencing it in person is something entirely different.
Duration: 120 mins
2. Valley Temple of Khafre
Step into the Valley Temple of Khafre, one of the best-preserved monuments on the Giza Plateau and a remarkable gateway to the ancient king’s pyramid complex. Built from massive blocks of limestone and granite more than 4,500 years ago, the temple was part of the sacred journey through which Pharaoh Khafre’s body was prepared for burial and his funerary rites were performed. Inside, your Egyptologist guide will explain the temple’s purpose, its distinctive polished granite architecture, and the beliefs surrounding the ancient Egyptian journey into the afterlife. Look closely at the enormous stone blocks, tall pillars, and carefully engineered spaces that have survived for millennia. As you walk through this ancient sanctuary, you can sense how powerful and precise the world of the pharaohs once was—an experience that brings the story of Giza far beyond the pyramids themselves.
Duration: 30 mins
3. Great Sphinx
Come face to face with the Great Sphinx of Giza, one of the most recognizable and mysterious monuments of ancient Egypt. Carved directly from the limestone bedrock more than 4,500 years ago, this immense figure combines the body of a lion with the head of a king, traditionally associated with Pharaoh Khafre. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the symbolism of the Sphinx, its connection to the Giza necropolis, and the fascinating questions surrounding its original purpose and meaning. Walk around the monument and admire the enormous paws, weathered features, and remarkable craftsmanship that have survived thousands of years beneath the desert sky. Take a moment to stand before its ancient gaze and imagine the countless generations who have looked upon the same monument. Seeing the Sphinx in person is a completely different experience—the scale, silence, and mystery make it a moment you will remember long after leaving Giza.
Duration: 30 mins
4. Grand Egyptian Museum
Enter the Grand Egyptian Museum and stand beneath the monumental statue of Ramses II, one of ancient Egypt’s greatest pharaohs, at the spectacular Grand Stairs. As you move through this dramatic space, colossal statues and royal monuments surround you, while views toward the Giza Pyramids create an extraordinary link between the museum and the ancient landscape outside. Continue to the Tutankhamun Galleries, where the young king’s golden mask, coffins, shrines, and dazzling funerary treasures reveal the richness of his royal world. Then discover the Khufu’s Boats Museum and see the enormous wooden vessel associated with the Great Pyramid. Your Egyptologist guide will bring the stories behind these masterpieces to life, from the power of Ramses II to the mystery of Tutankhamun and the engineering of Khufu’s boat. From the Grand Stairs to the pyramid view, GEM offers a spectacular new way to experience Egypt’s greatest treasures.
