Itinerary
1. Your personal driver guide will pick-up you at your hotel / b&b or train station in Hualien City.
2. One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.
3. After exploring the marble canyons and lush valleys of Taroko National Park, the journey continues toward the Pacific coast. Here, the land dramatically transforms into the towering Qingshui Cliffs, where mountains plunge straight into the sea. Formed by tectonic activity along Taiwan’s most dynamic fault line, these cliffs stand as a natural frontier between land and ocean. Voted among Taiwan’s Top Ten Landscapes, Qingshui is not only a geological wonder but also a breathtaking contrast to the deep gorges of Taroko—showcasing the seamless connection of mountains and sea.
4. Sakul waterfall Trail offers a refreshing forest escape before continuing on to the coastal scenery of Qixingtan. Unlike the marble canyons of Taroko, this circular trail winds through lush greenery with a gentle slope, making it easy and enjoyable for all ages. Shaded by trees and filled with the sounds of birds and insects, the walk feels like a natural “forest bath.” At the midpoint, you’ll reach Sakul Falls, an 18-meter-high waterfall surrounded by crystal-clear streams. Visitors can relax, cool off, or even splash their feet in the water for a lighthearted experience. The fresh mountain air and negative ions here create a rejuvenating atmosphere, washing away the stress of city life before you head on to the stunning sea views at Qixingtan.
5. After the refreshing walk through the forest trail, the journey continues to Chishingtan Beach, one of the most beautiful coastlines in Taiwan. Here, the blue sky meets the endless Pacific Ocean, while white and black pebbles line the shore, smooth and cool to the touch. A canopy of clouds crowns the mountains that embrace the coastline, creating an awe-inspiring backdrop. This is not only a place for stunning scenery—it’s also a moment of pure relaxation. Feel the gentle sea breeze, stretch out on the polished pebbles, and enjoy one of the most tranquil moments of the day. Though still a hidden gem to many international travelers, Chishingtan’s beauty has long been cherished by locals as one of Taiwan’s most iconic landscapes.
6. The Jiang Jun Fu (General’s House) is a historic Japanese-era military residence complex, featuring traditional dormitory layouts, brick chimneys, and elegant gardens that reflect Hualien’s past. Today, it is being reimagined as a vibrant cultural hub, blending history with creativity. Visitors can stroll through its Japanese-style garden, admire water features, and sense the atmosphere of “Hualien’s Living Room,” where heritage meets modern art and community life. Ending the day here offers a refreshing contrast to the grandeur of Taroko’s marble cliffs and wild landscapes—closing your journey with culture, tranquility, and a deeper connection to Hualien’s story.

More than just a drive, this journey offers an immersive and interactive way to truly experience Taroko Gorge and Hualien
The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding
